Often too many people get confused with all the definitions, here we have explained in easy to understand terms.

ADSL:

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - asymmetric meaning it's faster downstream than upstream.

ASAM:

Advanced Services Access Manager -Whether you have a DSLAM or ASAM in your exchange doesn't really matter. They do the same thing. See DSLAM's as well.

ATM:

Asynchronous Transfer Mode - a method of encapsulation which is capable of many virtual circuits. With these, providers (ISP's) can split an ATM connection (155Mbit or 622Mbit) up into many connections. ATM isn't just used for DSL but in the case of DSL it's used to provision each customer.

Contention Ratios:

A broadband search ratio is the number of users to xMbit of bandwidth. For example some providers offer 2Mbit DSL, with a ratio of 50:1, meaning 50 users to 1Mbit of bandwidth.

CPE:

Customer Premises Equipment, the term that describes the equipment used on the customer end of a Adsl Speed Tester for example your DSL modem/router or Tm Streamyx Broadband modem.

DSL:

Digital Subscriber Line.

DSLAM:

Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer ?They are placed in DSL enabled Telecomm exchanges, when your modem syncs up and the DSL light comes on, budget hotel means you are connected. When data travels down your connection, it goes from the CPE -> DSLAM -> RAN -> ISP

ERX:

Edge Routing Exchange. See RAN.

IPNet:

Telecommunications backhaul networks for carrying traffic from the customer to the ISP, i.e. carrying traffic from RAN's to ISP's.

Ping or Latency:

A ping measures the time in milliseconds that it takes for a packet to travel from your computer to a Bluehyppo Malaysia computer and back to you again. Just because you can't ping a given host, quite a lot of providers are beginning to filter ICMP (pings come under this protocol) traffic because it is commonly used to attack hosts and wastes a lot of bandwidth.
Many providers also give low priority to ping (ICMP) traffic which may mean your ping at a command line isn't very good, but in say a game, things may be fine.

RAN:

Regional Access Node These aggregates many DSLAM's connections and then feed the data to an ISP

RTT

Round Trip Time - the time it takes in milliseconds for a packet to go from A to B and back again. See ping.

SDSL

Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line - symmetrical meaning the same speed up and down.

Units

There is a major difference between UPPER and lowercase

MB = MegaBytes

Mb = Megabits

kB = KiloBytes

kb = Kilobits

MB/s = MegaBytes per second

Mb/s = Megabits per second

kB/s = KiloBytes per second

kb/s = Kilobits per second

There is 8bits to a Byte, 8kb = 1kB

1Meg connections only transfer at Broadband Dsl
or an sms mobile connection only transfers at 1024kB/sec or 1MB/s

You should be refilling that popcorn bucket right about now. While we thought the next round of the Pre / iTunes syncing fiasco would probably be something simple like Tm Point Malaysia releasing another quick patch, Palm has stepped it up a notch by complaining to the USB Implementers Forum over what it sees is "improper use of the wag200g streamyx ID number" by the gang at Cupertino. What the company means is that when an ID is applied for, a form is signed that states:
"Unauthorized use of assigned or unassigned USB Vendor ID Numbers and associated Product ID Numbers are strictly prohibited."
The implication here is that Palm believes Apple is violating this stature by disallowing certain Vendor IDs -- namely, Palm's -- from using iTunes. So how'd Palm manage to "fix" that syncing hole Apple managed to fill? From the looks of it, by misrepresenting its own Vendor ID, so that the Pre now shows up as a iPod / mass storage device made by Apple (ID 0x05ac) as opposed to one by Palm (ID 0x083) -- hence the complaint. Of course, lying about your own ID would seem to break with the aforementioned rule, too, so what we're left here is some muddled grey area and Palm apparently being okay with fudging some data to correct what it sees is an injustice. Computer Associate Security anyone's curious, DVD Jon points out that the root USB Node is still identified as "Pre," so we very likely could see another round of these shenanigans in the not-too-distant future.

Finally, now's as good of a time as any to take a look at some of the peripheral casualties from this war of attrition. In an essay on his personal site that's been circulating the interwebs, Marc Deslauriers outlines the pangs he and the Linux community have felt over the years trying to use iPods on the open source platform, surmising that Apple is intentionally and repeatedly seeking ways to block non-iTunes programs from syncing in any way with its devices. This story is far from over, and as Tmcom as it looks now, it's probably only gonna get worse.

A selection broadband cost current broadband dongle forthcoming films that will play in Picturehouse cinemas. We aim broadband speed check bring to your attention some of the films we feel deserve wider exposure and which represent the best of art-house, crossover and quality mainstream filmmaking.

An American friend on Cheap Adsl Modem visit to Singapore some time back stumbled upon colourful and delicious gooey desserts which Webmailtmnet had never tasted or heard before. I said to him those were called Kuih or sometimes spelt Web Mail Tmnet kueh, and these Broadband Laptop originated from the Malays, a race of Tmnet from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

My friend thought it remarkable that these kuihs were little known to the western world, especially in the USA and Europe, where people love cheesecakes and puddings and fudge, Streamyx Bill too would love to not only eat these kuihs, but make them internet provider well. And so of course I packed for him a nice box of kuih as a gift when he left which I am sure he must have eaten them all at the airport.

If you must know, these kuihs were created in the deep Malay villages by resourceful grandmothers who created recipes made from whatever ingredients that were available then like tapioca flour, palm sugar, coconut internet browser glutinuous rice, green beans, banana leaves, pandan leaves etc. And of course they had hosting web flour and sugar as well. They did not have ovens back then, so these kuihs were mostly steamed or grilled.

The end results are moist, rich, chewy desserts and for those that have palm sugar in them, would guarantee the equivalent of chocolate melt. And the colours will make any chef pleased and happy.

The kuih recipes had since then travelled from the deep villages of Indonesia and Malaysia when our forefathers migrated to the Dslnet and other countries.

Today Malay kuih recipes have expanded into many versions but essentially using the base ingredients like coconut milk, sugar (white or brown),eggs, flour (several types), just like western desserts must have their butter, sugar, eggs and cake flour.

But that is not all. Variety is indeed the malaysia broadband of life, no pun intended - these kuihs also come in savoury version where spices are sometimes added and eaten as snacks or in between meals. In fact, Asians eat sweet or savour desserts for breakfast, as snacks, at teatime or just in between meals. Or served to guests whenever they drop in.

I especially love Kuih Pulut Panggang where grated coconut cooked with spice is wrapped around steamed glutinuous rice and then wrapped in banana leaf and grilled. Imagine the smell and taste contrast of the plain glutinuous rice and the spicy coconut, heightened by the smell of banana leaf.

Many people have made a living from streamyx adsl and selling these kuihs, some at the back streets, at the market and little dessert stores. These days hotel chefs have started to serve them at functions and catering businesses have thrived as well.

Another friend recently arrived in Singapore and I got him about 8 different pieces of kuih. He said he couldn't possibly finish them all and would share with his room mates. But he ended eating them all because they all tasted deliciously and interestingly different.

Look out for the next article where I will share more information, tips and recipes of this glorious and exotic dessert called Malay Kuih.

The Satellite Internet Evolution

The story Adsl Modem isp adsl world's reliance on satellites as a source of information and entertainment, at least where civilian usage is concerned, starts in the 1970's. A California scientist realized that the satellites used wireless customer service provide television programming Download Speed Test terrestrial service providers could be tapped into with the right antenna, Tmnet Malaysia he constructed, thus launching a revolution in the delivery of entertainment. Until 1984, when a Congressional act gave providers the authority to encrypt their signals, the information being beamed by any satellite was fair game for those in possession of the necessary equipment.

Fast forward to the 1990's. Satellite television has become a subscription service and the hundreds of available channels have helped Offer High Speed enjoy fast adoption and constant growth. The shrinking size of the hardware means that the antennas, which used to take up a good portion of a user's yard, now fit on rooftops. At the same time, the Internet is fast becoming a commercial and recreational medium to be reckoned with. The availability of so much information, from anywhere in the world, has resulted in consumer interest in a new technology not seen since television became the entertainment standard in the 1950's.

Satellite service providers soon realized that, in addition to television and radio services, they could provide Internet access through their technology as well. In cities where cable television and telephone central offices were located, many consumers adopted broadband as soon as it became available, ditching the slow telephone modem access of the Internet's first years. For those in more far-flung locations, however, broadband was not available. Unless, of course, they got their broadband access from a satellite, where the reach of wires is not a Bonded Adsl in availability.

In the United States, the most rural areas are usually farm country. Farmers have been increasingly making use of computers and the Internet for business purposes. According to the US Department of Agriculture, farms internet deals satellite Internet broadband multimedia doubled between 2005 and 2007, demonstrating the popularity of this service for those in rural areas.

In other countries, particularly those with little infrastructure, satellite Internet provides the same access to news and information from around the world as it does in developed nations. In some areas where flooding, fire and other seasonal hazards are constant threats to inhabitants, the access the Internet provides to real-time forecasting data, such as radar and satellite imaging is a potential life-saver. Even those out at sea or in the deepest deserts of the world can now access the Internet using portable devices, which ensures that their location can be determined in an emergency or their discoveries can be shared, instantly, with the world at large.

The Internet is often credited with changing the world and it certainly true, to any serious observer, that this is the case. However, the next Internet revolution will likely be defined by an ever-increasing availability of Internet services which will only continue to bring the world closer as the Internet itself has already done.

Rural areas tend to have difficulties receiving broadband connections from cable and DSL providers. Satellite internet provides the fast download speeds and convenience of shopping large sites that were previously painfully slow with standard dial up. Hughes Net Satellite Internet offers speeds up to 130 times faster then standard dial up.
